Spring conference for Milestone Society this weekend

Includes chance to visit Bucklebury milestone
THE Milestone Society is holding its annual spring conference in Chieveley next weekend.
Doors will open at 9.40am at Chieveley Village Hall on Saturday, May 16, at which there will be a vote for or against the society’s revised constitution, and several talks on the history of the area, including turnpikes, tollhouses and waymarkers, the A34 and an introduction to the Bucklebury milestone.
There will also be the opportunity to visit the Bucklebury milestone, which is not usually open to the public.
Display boards will be available for viewing throughout.
