Reading Magistrates' Court: Lambourn man breached post-prison requirements

A LAMBOURN man released from prison failed to comply with supervision requirements.

In the dock at Reading Magistrates' Court on Monday, April 4, was Darren Geraghty.

The 32-year-old horseracing stables worker, of Old Manor Stables, Upper Lambourn, was sent to prison for six months after being convicted of two counts of assaulting a man thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm, in Lambourn in July 2018.

One of the assaults – both perpetrated on the same person – resulted in a broken nose for victim Luke Moretti.

Mr Geraghty had denied both attacks but did not turn up for his trial and was convicted in his absence.

He also admitted to failing to surrender to custody at Reading Magistrates Court in November 2020.

Mr Geraghty was also made to pay compensation of £500 and costs of £500.

At the latest hearing, Mr Geraghty admitted failing to comply with supervision requirements imposed following release from a period of detention.

Specifically, the court heard, he failed to attend several appointments and to keep in touch with his probation supervisor last year.

The court allowed the post-prison supervision order to continue.

Mr Geraghty was fined £20 for the breach and ordered to pay £30 costs.
