According to Richard Young, the watch manager of Blue Watch at Newbury Fire Station, one fire engine from Newbury and another from Hungerford, a total of ten firefighters, were called to Hillcroft House, Rooke’s Way, Thatcham, at 2.30pm.
The cause of the fire was found to be an electrical fault in a strip light.
“There was a strong smell of electrics burning,” said Mr Young.
About 50 staff were evacuated from the building for about half an hour.
No-one was hurt.
Firefighters isolated the electrics in the building and the incident was closed at 3.30pm.
