Newbury stalker Colin McKay awaits sentence
A MAN accused of perverting the course of justice by intimidating a witness has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of stalking.
Colin McKay appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Friday, December 6.
At a previous hearing at Reading Magistrates’ Court the 58-year-old, of Parsons Close, Newbury, denied intimidating Natasha Lloyd, knowing or believing she was a witness in legal proceedings, by asking her to drop the charges, thereby obstructing or perverting the course of justice, in Newbury on Wednesday, October 23.
At Friday’s hearing he admitted stalking Ms Lloyd by sending letters, following her to work and, on one occasion, asking her to drop the case against him, in Newbury between September 13 and October 23.
Magistrates consequently dismissed the charge of perverting the course of justice.
They ordered pre-sentence reports and stipulated these be prepared on an ‘all options’ basis, including custody.
McKay, who was legally represented by Adonis Daniel, was meanwhile released on bail with conditions.
