The 33-year-old, of The Frances, Thatcham, admitted pursuing a course of conduct which amounted to the stalking of his victim by calling and messaging excessively, sending unwanted gifts, using online banking as a method of telling her he loved her, trying to match with her on an online dating app and driving past her house, all in Newbury between January 1 and November 8 last year.

Magistrates made Beardsley subject to 12-month community order and required him to complete 100 hours of unpaid community work.

In addition, he was ordered to pay £85 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge of £114.
