Stars and celebs sign up for the Big Match in Newbury

Charity game will be held in June

A HOST of celebrities and sporting stars will be coming to Newbury next month for The Big Match Charity Football Event and Family Fun Day.

England and Arsenal ace Kelly Smith MBE will now be helping at The Big Match Kidz children’s training session as well as taking part in The Big Match itself, while Southampton legend Francis Benali will also be playing in the charity game.

The latest announcements come after the likes of Calum Best and Amy Childs, as well as former Spurs and Argentina star Ossie Ardiles and former West Ham defender Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock had already been confirmed for the charity match.

The Big Match, now in its fifth year, has so far raised more than £200,000 for Action for Children and The Brain Tumour Charity.

This year’s game is set to take place at Newbury Football Club, on Saturday, June 18.

Organiser Neil Humphries said: “It’s going to a great day out with some big names taking part and hopefully we can raise a lot of money for two great causes.”

Gates will be open from 10.30am for a whole day of events, entertainment and activities, with the Kidz Session starting at 11am, before the Big Match kicks off at 2pm.
