Still time to vote in Pitch to the Panel event

Six charities vying for your support

PEOPLE can still vote for a cause they feel is most deserving of funds for Greenham Common Trust’s Pitch to the Panel event.

More than 450 people have registered their votes in the first week and details of the final three charities seeking much-needed funding have now been revealed.

Seeking £16,216 is the Newbury Community Resource Centre Ltd for its Growing 2gether project at Cottismore Park, near Kings-clere.

The project offers horticultural therapy for adults with learning disabilities, as well serving as an educational centre for the local community.

The resource centre now wants to adapt a self-contained unit for their uses as well as refurbish the existing toilets to better cater for disabled users.

Newbury Tennis Club is seeking £9,747 for additional floodlighting.

The not-for-profit club has been reliant on borrowed lighting, and wants to invest in facilities for current and new members. Also pitching is the Crossroads Care Oxfordshire/West Berkshire/ Windsor/Maidenhead, which is seeking £54,000 to pay for children with complex care needs and their families to have a holiday and to cover the cost of a support worker.

The final three charities are joining Age Concern Newbury and District; Helen and Douglas House; and the 1st Burghfield and Sulhamstead Scouts in their bid to impress the panel of judges on Wednesday, November 9.

Now in its second year, the event will feature Paralympic gold medallist Danny Crates as keynote speaker on the night.

Pitch to the Panel will take place at Newbury’s Corn Ex-change on Wednesday, November 9. It will start with a meet-and- greet and the chance for people from charities and businesses to exchange opinions and ideas.
