Stockcross barn razed to ground in suspected arson




Trees and bushes also alight

A Stockcross barn was razed to the ground yesterday (Sunday) evening in a suspected arson.

Three fire engines, including two from Newbury and a third from Hungerford, were called at 9pm to Furze Hill, on the Sutton estate, to a barn measuring approximately 10m by 5m.

On arrival, firefighters discovered the barn well alight and that the blaze had spread to neighbouring trees and bushes.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze using two hosereels, before damping down the scene.

The barn was completely destoyed in the blaze, which the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) has recorded as a suspected arson.
