David Plant locked up after burgling Co-op and Newbury Town Convenience Store




A store burglar has been locked up while he awaits sentence.

David Plant appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Friday, January 31.

The 47-year-old, of Horseshoe End, Newbury, admitted burgling two Newbury shops.

Specifically, Plant admitted burgling Newbury Town Convenience Store in Bartholomew Street on December 6 last year and stealing cigarettes, tobacco and cash.

He also admitted burgling the Co-op stores in Pound Street on December 2, last year and stealing cigarettes, tobacco and stamps.

Finally, Plant pleaded guilty to possessing the Class B-controlled drug cannabis in Newbury on December 6 last year.

He also has previous convictions.

Plant, who was legally represented by Nonso Ikeazor, was told the above matters were so serious they would need be dealt with by a judge sitting at Reading Crown Court on a date to be fixed.

District judge Samuel Goozee meanwhile denied Plant bail and remanded him in custody.
