Streatley Night Glow balloons burn brightly

his picture was taken at the village recreation ground on Monday when hot air balloon crews assembled as part of the annual Night Glow event.
The balloons don’t take off, but their propane burners are fired to create a spectacular glimmer of giant burning lanterns across the landscape.
he chairwoman of Streatley Parish Council, Nicola Swan, said many years ago local balloonists were given permission to use the recreation ground as a launch point, and the event (if not the balloons) quickly took off.
"It has become hugely popular and the local Friends of Streatley Rec have linked in with the balloonists to provide refreshments which raise small amounts of funds to contribute towards new equipment for the rec.
“The parish council continue to support this event and it has become a regular feature of the event calendar for Goring and Streatley,” she said.
