Striking photograph of a great grey owl scoops top prize at Kingsclere Photo Club’s 2024 show
Around 200 visitors enjoyed Kingsclere Photo Club’s 17th annual exhibition with a striking image of an owl in flight scooping this year’s top prize.
The exhibition – which took place at the Kingsclere Village Club over the weekend of October 12 – featured panels of photographs by 18 photo club members.
The show also featured some pictures taken by two French photographers from the village of Cormicy, Kingsclere’s twin village, and images of some the club’s activities throughout the year such as the Pamber Forest photo walk and Kingsclere Cricket Club’s 250th anniversary charity match.
Every year visitors to the exhibition are asked to vote for their favourite photo, and this year’s top pick was Kingsclere resident Tony Matthews’ photo of a great grey owl titled Closing In.
Mr Matthews was the clear 2024 popular photographer, as he also picked up second and third place with Gilding and Got it.
The members’ vote for best panel was won by Sue Phillips from Pamber Heath with her striking images of Santorini in Greece. Second was Mr Matthews again with his Great Grey Owl panel.
Pictures of the panels will appear on the Kingsclere Photo Club website (www.kingsclerephoto.org) in due course.
The club is a friendly, none-competitive club based at the Kingsclere Village Club.
It meets on the first Wednesday of the month and new members are always welcome.
