String of successes for Kintbury racing youngster
Before Max Perry had turned four, he was riding a Suzuki quad bike and had moved on to a Yamaha PW 50cc motorbike by the time he was five.
Just two weeks after his sixth birthday, Max entered his first competition at which he scooped first place, followed by another victory at his next competition and a string of second and third place, before he was crowned ACU South West Centre Grass Track champion 2013.
He has since brought home several more first, second and third place trophies.
HIs father Robert Perry said: “All of Max’s racing has been made possible by generous sponsorship from friends, family and local businesses.
“He has been fully supported by his school and has spent a tremendous amount of time and effort practising in the field that is kindly lent to us by a local farmer.
“Max is a typical six-year-old boy, full of energy and mischief. He has always had a huge enthusiasm for racing and he always amazes me how he manages to focus so intensely on his race day.
“I am so proud of him and what he has achieved already and can only look forward to next year’s racing and what the future holds for Max.”
Tina Norton , the headteacher of the school Max attends, Kintbury Primary, said: “I am more than happy to encourage Max with his riding. He clearly loves it and comes to life whenever he talks about the competitions he has been in and the training he has done.
“School and learning are more than just maths and English and I’m delighted that Max is developing his talents and gaining great confidence from this. He has a bright future ahead of him on the race track.”
The family is now searching for a sponsor for Max for the 2014 season, due to begin in March. Anyone interested should email robertperry@btinternet.com
