Storm Eowyn: Yellow weather warning for wind in place for West Berkshire and North Hampshire on Friday
West Berkshire could be battered by 10 hours of strong winds as Storm Eowyn makes its presence known later this week, writes Grace Clift.
A yellow weather warning for wind has just been extended and now covers West Berkshire and North Hampshire.
It is in place from 5am to 3pm on Friday, with gusts of 40-50 mph likely.
The Met Office warned that there could be delays to road and rail transport, with bus services also possibly affected.
“Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary,” the warning added.
It also warned that some short term loss of power is possible.
Preparation for power loss is quick and easy – just grab some torches and batteries, and charge up a phone power pack, it added.
The whole of the UK is now covered by a yellow or amber warning for strong winds throughout most of Friday.
