The project was completed through First Give, a charity which works to inspire young people to get involved with charity community work.

As part of First Give’s partnership with Trinity School, students worked to identify social issues in their local community and chose charities within their local area to tackle that social issue.

One class chose the Newbury Soup Kitchen and were judged as having the most effective action among their peers.

Their impressive project work and final presentation won the Newbury Soup Kitchen a £1,000 grant.

Meryl Praill, CEO and founder of Newbury Soup Kitchen, visited Trinity School to speak to students about homelessness, poverty issues, mental health and addiction.

She also took the opportunity to thank the winning class for their hard work.

Mrs Praill said: “Thank you so much for representing us so beautifully in your presentation.

“The funds will help with our work with people experiencing homelessness, and [those] who are [vulnerable], here in West Berkshire.”
