A fine day for Newbury’s Art on the Park
The fine weather attracted a good number of visitors to Victoria Park on Sunday for the first of two Art on the Park shows this summer.
A wide range of watercolours, acrylics and prints was displayed on the railings of the Victoria Park Nursery, with 14 stalls offering a mix of framed and unframed works as well as crafts, jewellery and cards for sale.
Newbury mayor Nigel Foot enjoyed talking to the artists as he went around the exhibits and endorsed the Town Council’s support of this event which showcased local talent.
Among the exhibitors Newbury and District Hackspace –- nadhack.org – who make, craft, mend, re-purpose, create, share, teach and learn in a community workshop had a stand exhibiting 3D prints, woodcarving and laser-cut models created by members. They hold open evenings for anyone interested in using their facility.
Newbury Art Group and Newbury and District Arts Association, the umbrella group representing performing, visual and creative arts in the area, were involved in organising the event.
There will be another Art on the Park on Sunday, August 27
