Sunny outlook for Little Rainbows

Fun at summer fair

LITTLE Rainbows nursery school in Hungerford, recently boosted by a glowing Ofsted report, has held its first summer fair.

A spokeswoman for the nursery, Sandra Leslie, said: “The event was very well supported by parents and grandparents of the children who attend the nursery and their friends.

“Little Rainbows sponsored and hosted the event but local businesses in the area kindly donated prizes for the raffle.”

All proceeds are being donated to The Downs Syndrome Association and the Dingley Children’s Centre for children with complex health issues.

The school is basking in the glow of its most recent Ofsted report, which deemed the care and education provision to be “outstanding”.

The achievement is all the more remarkable because the previous report ruled that the nursery ‘required improvement’.

But within 12 months Little Rainbows skipped an entire category – “good” – to achieve the highest accolade.

Little Rainbows childcare manager, Michele Murphy, said: “Ofsted have recently raised the bar in terms of what nurseries are required to achieve and we were so pleased with our recent inspection result we decided to have a fun event to celebrate it.

“Having the proceeds of the event go to deserving children’s charities was very important to us.”

On Saturday, July 18, the sun shone all day which helped to make the event a huge success, with more than £1,200 being raised for the chosen charities.

The fair had a lot of traditional fete stalls, a bouncy castle and a barbecue.

Chef Jody Marshall, who cooks all the nursery meals onsite, produced a cook book of the nursery’s favourite dishes, which proved a very popular purchase.

Little Rainbows nursery staff Rosie Kirby and Becky Giddings co-ordinated the organisation of the fair and encouraged parents and local businesses to support the event.

The nursery currently has 90 children on the roll.
