Superhero surprise for Thatcham birthday boy Zac

Children at a birthday party in Thatcham were treated to the arrival an unexpected guest recently – when Spiderman suddenly appeared on the roof.

Friends of Zak Smalley had gathered at the family home in The Moors, Thatcham, to celebrate his fourth birthday at the end of last month.

Mum Zoe had arranged a special surprise though – roofer friend Neil Harmerston had agreed to don the full Spiderman costume and use his professional skills to make a surprise appearance.

Zoe explained that Neil came round earlier in the day and secretly set his ladders up on the other side of the house. “Then we all just went out to the bottom of the garden and pretended we wanted to have a photo.

“And then he appeared.

“He came from the front of the house over to the back, and then waved to us.”

The eight children there were hugely excited.

“They just couldn't believe it, and were saying ‘it’s so cool!’”.

‘Spiderman’ then came down to meet the children, to complete the surprise for Zax, who is a big fan of the comic superhero.

Zoe added: “Everyone’s still talking about it!”
