Aldi on London Road in Newbury reopens following ‘significant’ refurbishment and extension

A supermarket in central Newbury has reopened following a “significant” refurbishment and extension.

Aldi on London Road – which reopened this morning (Thursday) – now has a larger retail space of 1,315 sq m, which Aldi believes will offer customers “an enhanced, convenient, and varied shopping experience, with a large range of award-winning British products at unbeatable prices to choose from”.

The layout of the budget grocery store has also changed, with the bakery section being moved to the last aisle to prevent bread and cakes being squashed.

The new and improved supermarket also has more spacious aisles, clearer signs and new, easy-to-browse freezers.

Store manager David Evans said: “The team and I are really looking forward to welcoming back some familiar faces as well as new customers, and supplying our local community with the everyday amazing products we have available.

“Hopefully the new-look store will make shopping at Aldi Newbury that bit easier and more comfortable.”

Aldi has created five new jobs as a result of the extension and is continuing to recruit for the Newbury store.
