The moon was the closest it has been to earth in 20 years - as this picture taken by our photographer Phil Cannings shows.
Sunday's moon was known as a perigee moon, which occurs when it hits the point of its orbit closest to the Earth, which usually means being around 30,000 miles from the planet.
Sunday night’s moon was reportedly 863 miles closer than that.
The 'supermoon' on Sunday became full within the same hour of being at the perigee point in its orbit, which made it appear even bigger and brighter than usual.
