Superspy loses out to bumpkins - but charities are the real winners

The annual event, organised by the Volunteer Centre West Berkshire and funded by Jones Robinson estate agents and the Berkshire Community Foundation, saw 39 charities and organisations try and recruit new operatives, with a James Bond and country bumpkin theme.
But the event was not just to recruit volunteers, as the organisations were also competing for a £100 cheque from the

.
The headmaster of Park House School and competition judge, Derek Peaple, said that the judges had been shaken and stirred by the entries; and uplifted and humbled by what the organisations were doing in the community.
Judges for the event were Mr Peaple, Newbury Weekly News editorial director Brien Beharrell and Deputy Lieutenant for the Royal County of Berkshire, Christine Weston.
Scooping the prize were the barn dancing cowfolk from the Interakt Theatre charity, which was set up two years ago by managing director Tsippy McAuliffe, to support people with disabilities by developing skills in creative sessions.
