Support and advice offered to carers in West Berkshire

Special Independent Living Network event held in Newbury

PEOPLE living with disabilities across West Berkshire were able to gain advice and support at a special event held recently.

West Berkshire Independent Living Network offered disabled people, their carers and those that work with and support them the chance to hear from guest speakers from the Newbury and District Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) for the NHS and West Berks Disability Alliance (WBDA) among others.

Speakers gave presentations highlighting important changes affecting disabled people and their carers across West Berkshire.

The event also included debates and informal discussions on subjects close to the hearts of the audience.

A market place was available from local organisations offering support to disabled people and their carers where people were able to gather information and receive advice and help.

The next event is planned for early October and will be discussing independent living for people with disabilities in West Berkshire.
