Volunteer proctors needed for Newbury Almshouse Trust
Newbury Almshouse Trust is seeking volunteers to join its resident support team.
The volunteers, known as proctors, provide a vital link between the Trust and its residents.
Proctor’s duties include making monthly contact with residents and helping to ensure they understand any changes to the Trust’s policies and major improvement plans.
The proctors also relay any resident concerns to be addressed by the management team.
The Trust is also seeking one team member to oversee and log routine maintenance calls and ensure approved contractors carry out any works.
Volunteering times vary, but a minimum of four hours per week is anticipated.
A DBS certificate is required for all volunteers, paid for by the Trust.
Visit www.newburyalmshouses.org/contact if you are interested in joining the team.
Newbury Almshouse Trust has more than 800 years of providing affordable housing to people in and around Newbury.
Its services have ranged from giving three poor widows a house and an allowance for clothing and fuel in 1727, to maintaining its current stock of 42 residential units.
These homes include the ancient St Bartholomew’s Hospital, in Argyle Road, to newer bungalows.
But all offer modern facilities, a friendly community and the Trust’s support.
