Newbury's Sushi Maki restaurant receives Good Food Award
A Newbury sushi restaurant has been awarded a prestigious food award for maintaining exceptional standards.
The Sushi Maki, located in Market Place, received the Good Food Award – Gold Seal for 2021, which is awarded to businesses that have achieved the award for three consecutive years or more.
The restaurant, which specialises in Japanese cuisine, has been a Good Food Award winner every year since 2016 and the award is the highest accolade presented by the Good Food Awards.
Sushi Maki owner Arif Goksel said: “I am so pleased to have been awarded the Gold Seal for 2021 especially during this challenging time.
“We have such a great team and all the chefs, the manager and the rest of the staff deserve a big thank you from me for working so hard and making my dreams come true.
“We are excited to keep getting better, to keep growing and to continue to make delicious sushi for our local area.”
The Sushi Maki was set up in 2015 by Mr Goksel after he turned his hobby for sushi into a business.
The Good Food Awards launched in 2002 and evaluates restaurants on the quality and taste of their dishes, hygiene standards and customer feedback.
The Sushi Maki is open Monday to Saturday, midday to 3pm and 5pm to 9pm.
