Swift Couriers launch West Berkshire's seventh toy appeal

The appeal, run by Swift Couriers and supported by The Newbury Weekly News, The Breeze Newbury, Sainsbury’s and Apple Print, works in conjunction with West Berkshire Council to help support families over the festive period.
A spokeswoman for Swift Couriers, Kathryn Colbourne said: “It’s important because we want to support children, to give them something we all take for granted at Christmas.
“We want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to have a gift.”
Swift Couriers are calling on the public to make donations where they can. All donations must be brand-new and can be suitable for all ages, from newborn to aged 19. They must also be unwrapped to allow children to choose the gift they would like.
The appeal is not limited strictly to toys, with other items such as clothing, high-street store vouchers and toiletries also making great gifts.
The launch, held at Swift Couriers head offices on Hambridge Lane, Newbury, was attended by representatives from each of the organisations involved, including NWN managing director, Adrian Martin and chairman of West Berkshire Council, Adrian Edwards. The event officially launched the start of the appeal, which is running until December 14.
Among the guests were pupils from Parsons Down Junior School who donated some of the first gifts to this years appeal.
