Tadley CAB chairwoman to stand down after six years

At a community liaison luncheon and annual meeting, funded by Loddon Valley Lions, at Tadley Community Centre, Newchurch Road, last Wednesday, Kate Hebden revealed that she would be succeeded by Tadley town councillor Jo Slimin, a longstanding trustee.
Invited guests to the luncheon included the mayor and mayoress of Basingstoke and Deane, Dan and Julie Putty, and representatives of local charities, community groups and organisations in Tadley.
Mrs Hebden, who thanked colleagues, including 42 volunteer advisers and office staff, for their support was presented with a parting gift.
She said that she hoped to continue her work with the bureau in a different capacity.
In her welcoming speech, Mrs Hebden said that bureau manager Sarah Vallins had resigned in April to take up a full-time position elsewhere, and she extended a special thanks to advice services manager Linda Harvey for holding the fort since then.
The treasurer, Val Goddard, was unable to attend the meeting, therefore the presentation of the bureau’s audited accounts was given by trustee Anna Illingworth, who said that the bureau had been lucky enough each year to bring in sufficient funds to continue.
She thanked the fundraising committee for its support and drive in organising events such as quiz and curry nights.
The bureau’s balance sheet, as of March 31 (2013), stood at £67,316 total funds, which compared to a similar figure last year, of £67,254.
Mr Putty said that he was very appreciative of the work done by the CAB in the community, in providing impartial and professional advice.
The luncheon and meeting was followed by a presentation by Marion Cavanagh, of Healthwatch Hamp-shire, an independent organisation that gives people a voice in the improvement and shaping of local health and social care services, and which includes the CAB among its partners.
