Tadley gorseland fire suspected arson
Detectives seeking information
Detectives have appealed for information, after hedges and gorseland were set alight on Tadley Common on Monday (April 27), in a suspected arson.
Hampshire police were called to the Common Road blaze shortly after 6.50pm, and which caused damage to approximately a hectare of gorseland.
It is believed that the fires were deliberately started and detectives are looking to speak to two men in connection with the incident.
The men were both white and aged in their 20's. One had a thin face and was wearing casual clothes. The other man was wearing a tracksuit and possibly also a backpack.
Det Con Carolyn Davies said: “These fires, having been started intentionally, could have caused serious consequences if fire crews had not attended as quickly as possible.
“The fires caused significant damage to nature and animals and could have caused injuries to members of the public using the common at the time.
“Arson is a very serious offence I am hoping that someone might have information as to who was responsible for starting these fires will contact me."
