Tadley Poppy Appeal raised thousands

Tadley and District Royal British Legion raised more than £20,000 during this year's appeal

TADLEY and District Royal British Legion have this year raised £21,934 towards the Poppy Appeal - £3,500 more than last year.

Following a poppy people recruitment day early in October, more than 20 new volunteers assumed collectors roles for the branch, either with house to house collections or manning a static display in Sainsbury's Tadley branch.

“The total raised in Sainsbury's alone during the two weeks was £9,092,” said Sandi Langer, Poppy Appeal organiser for the branch, adding, thanks to everyone who helped to make this year's appeal so successful.

The total raised last year was £18,370.

The branch meets on the second Monday of each month at the Ambassador Club, Hangar Road, Tadley, new members welcome. For more information email sandilanger@btinternet.com or on telephone (0118) 9817901.
