Tadley recognises good citizens
Four people in Tadley join town's roll-of-honour after voluntary work is recognised
FOUR new names have been added to Tadley's roll-of-honour listing the town's good citizens.
Ron Martin, a volunteer driver for the Monday Club, which provides entertainment and refreshments for older people at the Ambrose Allen Centre, Tadley, received a Good Citizen's Award from the chairwoman of Tadley Town Council, Jo Slimin, at the council offices in Franklin Avenue recently.
Mr Martin, who also takes responsibility for looking after the minibus serving the Ambrose Allen Centre, by taking it for repairs and MOTs, was proposed and seconded for the award by town councillors Valerie Frost and Susan Mullan.
Mr Martin's wife, Shirley Martin received a bunch of flowers.
Other recipients of Good Citizens Awards were Jeff Wilkinson and his wife, Shelagh, who have worked voluntarily for Age Concern in Tadley for many years:
The clerk to the town council Nicki Barry said: “Mrs
Wilkinson has been there for 25 years and her speciality is
all the co-ordination of paperwork, money arrangements
etc for the chiropody clinics held at the Ambrose Allen Centre and TadleyCommunity Centre.”
The Wilkinsons, who were proposed for the award by
Rosemary Bond and seconded by Mandy Atkinson, both received a plaque and Mrs Wilkinson was also presented
with flowers.
Mrs Slimin said: “We thank you on behalf of the community.”
