Tadley Treacle Fair returns tomorrow (Sunday) at Saunders Fields from 11am to 4pm
Tadley Treacle Fair returns tomorrow (Sunday) to its usual venue of Saunders Fields, next to the Lidl supermarket.
It will include arena displays, a craft marquee, charity stands, tea tent, a licensed bar tent and more.
The Treacle Fair runs from 11am to 4pm and will be officially opened by the mayor of Basingstoke and Deane in the arena at 12.45pm.
Other arena attractions include the Old Basing Royal British Legion Band at 11.30am and 1.45pm, Dance Phaze at 12.15pm, Paws for Thought Dog Display at 12.55pm and 2.30pm, and a Parade of Vintage Vehicles at 3.15pm.
The Treacle Fair derives its name from a legend dating back to the late 19th century, which claims that there were treacle mines located in the village, and until well into the 20th century the locals were referred to as Tadley treacle miners.
It is the Loddon Valley Lion Club’s main fundraiser, alongside its Father Christmas tour every winter.
The Treacle Fair field is agricultural land normally used for the grazing of animals. It can be rough in places and organisers advise visitors to wear appropriate footwear.
Well behaved dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short lead at all times.
Admission is £4 for adults, £1 for children aged five to 16 and free for children aged four and under.
On site car parking is free.
