Tadley's community cinema raises charity funds
A total 35 people turned up on the evening of Friday, June 15 at Tadley Community Centre in Newchurch Road, to watch England prove victorious on the 4m wide, high definition screen.
"Everybody enjoyed themselves and were impressed with the quality of the projection equipment we have installed, and they all went home with a smile on their face - but the result of the game probably had a lot to do with that!" said Adrian Noad, chairman of Tadley and District Community Association, which manages the centre.
With a family ticket costing £10 (adults £5/children £2.50), money that was raised on the night was in aid of the campaign Out of the Blue, in support of Tadley family, the Sebbages, following the death of their son Robert in Zante, Greece, last year during a stabbing incident.
The Sebbages aim to attend all fundraisers in support of the campaign although Robert’s mother, Rhian Sebbage, said they were unable to attend the match screening on Friday as Robert’s father, Andy, had been admitted to hospital last Wednesday (June 13) and was awaiting a transfer to the Royal Brompton Hospital, in Chelsea, London, for scheduled heart surgery.
Fundraisers for the campaign continue on Saturday (June 23) at Tadley Swimming Pool, with a pool party and fun in the pool with inflatables. All proceeds to the campaign, tickets available from the swimming pool reception. For details of this and other fundraisers visit www.outoftheblue-rjs.co.uk.
