A lunar eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when the Moon moves into the Earth’s shadow, causing the Moon to be darkened.

The phenomenon that occurred this morning is known as a ‘blood moon’ as the celestial body darkens into a dusky red when it moves in the Earth’s shadow.
