Talent wanted for Newbury Carnival 2013

The last carnival, in 2011 saw a vast array of performers entertain the crowds, including a Scottish pipe band, Morris dancers, majorettes, a samba band, a jazz trio, and Elvis impersonator Mike Nova, who brought Las Vegas to Newbury. The prize for best music or dance entry was won by the Nomads Musical Theatre Group.
Newbury Carnival chairman, Bryan Harper, said: “People love the colour and music of the carnival parade and we’re always pleased to have local music and dance groups parading through the centre of Newbury.
“We are now especially looking for marching bands to help keep the parade moving along.”
Mr Harper said that entries for this year’s parade were already coming in and that the theme of ‘Travels in Time – Past Present and Future’ was sparking people’s imaginations.
This year’s carnival will be held on July 14, starting at 2pm in Pound Street and finishing in Victoria Park, where a fete and funfair will entertain the crowds.
