Talking about their generations
Grandmother Susan Mawston, of Sidestrand Road, Newbury, still keeps a cutting from the summer of 1988 when we pictured five generations of her family at a christening.
Mrs Mawston, an office supervisor at 3M Rochford Thompson, Hambridge Lane, Newbury, said: “When my daughter Caroline was christened she had not only myself but her grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother in attendance.
“Now, 24 years later, Caroline herself is a mother to Jacob, who is also lucky enough to have a great-great grandmother.
“He broke the chain of all girls when he was born, because Caroline was a fifth generation girl. “He also has a great-grandmother, Florence, who lives near Ufton Nervet, on his father’s side.”
Jacob is pictured nestled between his great-great grandmother, 90-yearold Kathleen Harrison, and his great grandmother, 73-year-old Marjorie Cripps.
His mother Caroline, a nursery nurse at Rocking Horse Nursery, Newbury Racecourse, who also lives in Sidestrand Road, said: “The picture was taken on a visit to his greatgreat-grandmother’s home in Marlborough, Wiltshire.
“She absolutely adores him, as you can imagine. Jacob has got lots of people to spoil him.”
