Tally Ho! Hundreds enjoy spectacle of Vine and Craven Hunt Boxing Day meet in Lambourn
THERE was an impressive turnout for the traditional Boxing Day meeting of the Vine and Craven Hunt this year.
Hundreds of supporters headed to Lambourn for the annual gathering to enjoy the spectacle and perhaps a glass of port to wash down the mince pies.
The clatter of hooves, sound of the horn, the sight of hunting pinks and the raising of stirrup cups created an atmosphere unchanged over centuries.
After the meet, the hunt left through the village for a drag hunt.
The hunt posted afterwards: “We want to say a massive thank you to all of Lambourn village being so welcoming and for joining us at our Boxing Day meet and supporting us year on year.
“It was brilliant to see so many people mounted and on foot, which makes it a wonderful occasion that many look forward to every year.
“We are very grateful to the very kind donations that went to the food bank and to the hunt staff and masters whom have put a lot of time and effort in to organise each meet and keep the show on the road all year round.
“And, finally, to the hunt supporters club who do so much from hosting meets to fundraising – recently due to their brilliant efforts a new log burner was installed into the huntsman’s house at kennels.”
