Taxi driver cut free following collision on the M4
Passenger praised firefighters rapid response
A taxi driver has been taken to hospital after being cut out of her vehicle.
Fire crews from Whitley Wood, Caversham and Dee Road were called to the collision, on the M4 between Chieveley and Hungerford, at 6.30am.
Delta watch manager at Whitley Wood fire station, Matthew Martin, said that the collision involved a taxi and flatbed lorry.
Firefighters cut the roof off the taxi to free the trapped female driver from the vehicle.
The driver was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford by ambulance.
Mr Martin said that the male passenger, who had been picked up from Heathrow Airport, was unhurt.
He said that the passenger, who had returned from Nairobi, praised the rapid response of the fire service; saying that if he had been trapped in a car in Nairobi he would never have gotten out.
