Taxi driver removed from Newbury collision on spinal board

According to Mike Wilson, a crew member of the Red Watch team at Newbury Fire Station, one fire engine from Newbury and another from Hungerford were called at 8.45pm to a collision involving a taxi and small car, on the (unnamed) slip road, situated in-between two mini roundabouts - an access route to the 24-hour Tesco Extra.
“The guy in the taxi wasn’t trapped, but he had various injuries, including pain down the back of his neck. Paramedics wanted to remove him on a spinal board,” said Mr Wilson.
The other car involved in the collision was also damaged, with the male driver able to get out of the vehicle.
The slip road was closed during the incident, blocking access to Tesco from Pinchington Lane.
Ngoze Fakeye, a spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance, said the ambulance service was called at 8.39pm to the collision. A man was taken to the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital on a spinal board, she confirmed, with injuries not considered to be life threatening.
The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service closed the incident after 45 minutes.
Thames Valley Police spokeswoman, Laura Deane, said police were called to the collision at 8.45pm before closing the incident at 10.50pm
