Tea party at Shaw House

West Berkshire Council is holding an event to celebrate the 10th birthday of the district's Walking for Health scheme

WEST Berkshire Council is holding a tea party at Shaw House today (Monday) to celebrate the 10th birthday of the district's Walking for Health scheme.

The event, which will include a small presentation to thank all the volunteer walk leaders involved in the scheme, will be the last attended by the current chairman of West Berkshire Council, Graham Pask, before a new chairman is appointed this week.

Mr Pask said: “I am delighted to be able to show support for Walking for Health. We rely heavily on volunteers to ensure the success of this very worthwhile scheme and would like to thank them personally for their hard work and commitment.

“It is due to them that the scheme has endured some difficult times and gone from strength to strength and clearly shows that Big Society values are not new to West Berkshire."

The event starts at 3.30pm.
