Teen vandal told to pay victim
Newbury magistrates heard on Thursday, January 30, how the aggrieved, Hussein Kouranie, of Walton Way, Newbury, discovered fencing panels at his home had been torn down.
The 16-year-old from Thatcham, who can not be identified for legal reasons, admitted causing criminal damage on December 15 last year.
He also admitted possessing cannabis in Newbury town centre on December 27 last year.
Mike Davis, defending, said: “He was with an 18-year-old but doesn’t seek to blame anyone else. They were tearing fence panels off and throwing them in the river. It’s a mindless offence with no good explanation. He did offer to mend the fence.”
Magistrates made the boy subject to a six month referral order and ordered him to pay a £15 statutory surcharge and to pay Mr Kourani £50 compensation.
