Calcot teen Alex Ashfield in custody on drugs and knife charges
A TEENAGER has been sent, in custody, to the crown court on drug dealing charges.
Alex Ashfield was also accused of having a knife in public when he appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, August 21.
The 19-year-old, of Burbidge Close, Calcot, faces six charges in all.
Most seriously, he is accused of being concerned in the supply of the Class A controlled-drug cocaine.
Then, Mr Ashfield faces four charges involving the possession and intent to supply the Class B-controlled drug cannabis.
Finally, he is accused of possessing a folding knife in public, specifically in Southcote Lane, Reading.
All the offences were said to have been committed in the Reading postal region on various dates between August last year and August this year.
Mr Ashfield was told that the charges were so serious they would be sent to be dealt with by a judge and, in the event of a trial, by a jury sitting at Reading Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
District judge Samuel Goozee meanwhile denied him bail and remanded him in custody.
