New school term dates suggested for West Berkshire - consultation opens

New school term dates have been suggested in West Berkshire.

And the matter is now out for public consultation.

The proposed school term dates are for community and voluntary controlled schools for 2026/27

“We recommend that schools consider aligning their terms with other schools in the area; for example, secondary schools with primary schools, in recognition that families may have children in different year groups,” says the council.

“Once agreed, these dates are only a guide and we recommend that you check with the school if a specific date is key to your plans, eg before making a holiday booking, as a school may adjust the dates slightly due to other plans.”

It is proposed that term one will be 37 days from Wednesday, September 2, 2026, to Thursday, October 22, 2026.

Term two is Monday, November 2, 2026, to Friday, December 18, 2026 – 35 days,

Term three is Monday, January 4, 2027, to Friday, February 12, 2027 – 30 days.

Term four is Monday, February 22, 2027 to Thursday, March 25, 2027 – 24 days.

Term five is Monday, April 12, 2027, to Friday, May 28, 2027, and term six is Monday, June 7, 2027, to Friday, July 23, 2027.

A decision on the new dates will be made in March and the consultation runs until the end of February.
