Tesco staff's around the world charity row

Staff from the Tesco Newbury Extra, Pinchington Lane branch rowed 110 miles in 16 hours, starting on Friday (Aug 31) to raise a total £1,750 for Cancer Research UK - Tesco’s charity of the year.
“We did pretty well, we are all knackered, so many people were involved,” said the store’s community champion, Liza Fairly, who continued that 50 staff from the store took part over three consecutive days.
One staff member, she said, stock controller Andy Bishop, came in during his holidays to participate: “He filled every gap,” said Miss Fairly.
Rowing machines for the event and a fitness instructor were loaned for the event by Progression Fitness, of Newbury Rugby Football Club, in Monks Lane.
The feat was part of Tesco’s company aim to row around the world to raise funds for the charity, with Tesco to add 20 per cent to the total raised at the end of the year, according to Miss Fairly.
