Thames Valley Police commission rap to reduce crime in the area
The rap has seen the police team up with up-and-coming grime artists and producers in an attempt to make people more aware of their actions.
Chief Insp Colin Seaton attributed the need for the rap to last years riots which consumed numerous cities across the country, adding some high-profile crimes involving youths since then have worsened the issue.
He said: “We decided to do everything possible to really engage with the young people in our community. The video aims to encourage people to think about their actions and understand the consequences of their behaviour before it is too late.”
DJ LoMotes, who co-produced the track with Phoenix Keyz and artists Lola Coca, Styler, Sicx, Dimples and Treasure said: “The track not only highlights the never-ending cycle of consequences, retaliation and revenge but also hopes to inspire today’s youth into making better life choices.
“I didn’t just want to be another person talking about the problem of gang-related crime. I actually wanted to help make a difference and I believe this single has the capability to do just that.”
An Eye For An Eye has had more than 14,000 views since it was uploaded to YouTube in June and is available to download from iTunes and Amazon.
All profits will go towards the Ben Kinsella knife crime charity and other local community projects.
