Thames Water working to fix ‘complex’ Thatcham leak

Thames Water has said it is carrying out a ‘complex repair’ to a leak in Thatcham.

Water has been flowing on Ilkey Way since Sunday, July 2, and spilling onto The Moors.

The utility company said the reason for this was a burst pipe.

It said that engineers investigated it on the same day it was reported but the location and complexity of the work means it will take time to carry out the repair.

Two-way traffic lights have been put in place as works are being carried out.

One Network says the roadworks will be over tomorrow (Thursday).

A Thames Water spokesperson said: "We received reports of a leak on Ilkey Way in Thatcham on Sunday 2 July.

"Our engineers investigated the same day and located a burst water pipe.

“Due to the location and complexity of the work, more time is needed to carry out the repair.

“We're working as quickly and safely as possible to get this sorted and we’re sorry for any inconvenience this causes to local residents."
