Special memories shared at 60th reunion for friends who worked at Newbury’s Kleinwort Benson merchant bankers

A group of work colleagues have enjoyed a reunion 60 years after they first met.

The five women worked in the Registration Department at Kleinwort Benson merchant bankers in Speen.

They first met in 1963 and earlier this month they enjoyed a special catch up at Angelica’s Café, in Camp Hopson.

Geraldine Christman (nee Warne) flew in from the US to join the other friends for the reunion.

Mrs Christman met an American GI from Welford Air Base and moved to America as a young bride.

The reunion also included Annelise House (nee Stevens), Suzanne Gale (nee Cox), Margaret Lansley (nee Haines) and Patrica Ash (nee Barton).

Mrs Gale said it was “a wonderful 60th reunion and celebration, sharing old memories and making new ones”.

Kleinwort Benson, now Kleinwort Hambros and based in Northcroft Lane, has been in the town since the Second World War. It was one of the town’s biggest employers in the 1980s.
