The Salvation Army thanks those who donated to Christmas toy appeal
The Newbury Corps of The Salvation Army has thanked everyone who has supported its charitable efforts this Christmas.
As part of its toy appeal, the charity distributed presents to over 200 children, of which 81 were Ukrainian refugees. The Salvation Army also gave 57 gifts to vulnerable adults.
Companies that donated to the appeal included Vodafone and a local Tesco store.
Newbury corps officer Major Alex McNee said: “Our fundraising efforts raised far more than we had expected given the current pressures on household finances, and there was no shortage of donors to our toy appeal.
“Many thanks to all the individual donors, schools, organisations and corporate donors who supported our efforts this year.”
All surplus toys and gifts donated as part of the appeal have been passed on to another local charity to ensure that they go to those in need.
