Thatcham and Cold Ash pair take on Palace to Palace charity cycle challenge

Carl Gorman, aged 49, and Dan Beynon, aged 35, will take on the Palace to Palace ride in June, which starts at Buckingham Palace and ends at Holyrood Palace.
They will be collecting for Orchid, a research and awareness testicular, prostate and penile cancer charity.
Mr Gorman said: “There is a lot done for breast cancer but Orchid is not really heard of.
“I saw this and thought it looked like a good challenge.”
As part of the challenge, the group of about 20 will work in pairs to rack up about 200 miles each of the 400-mile journey, riding two hours on and two hours off.
Starting on June 22, the cyclists will take it in turns to alternatively pedal through the day and night.
All cyclists will set off together, leaving London through Hyde Park.
The route will skirt around Peterborough and Lincoln, across the Humber River and head on towards York.
They will cross the Scottish border via Galashiels on Saturday.
The group will reconvene on the outskirts of Edinburgh before entering the city together, arriving en masse at Holyrood Palace.
Mr Gorman said: “This does seem like it’s going to be quite difficult.
“It is a question of keeping up with the pace. It’s definitely going to be different doing it at night – everything is going to be a lot more challenging.”
To help with their training, the pair will be cycling around the Isle of Wight on May 6.
Both Mr Gorman and Mr Beynon need to raise £1,000 to take part in the challenge.
