Thatcham author publishes second thriller

Jean Shorney, of Pegasus Close, has released her latest self-published book, Stalking Aidan, a tale of newly-released from jail Irish-born Aidan McRaney who wants to be reunited with his son Patrick. However, things begin to spiral out of control as Aidan notices he is being stalked by a mysterious biker, and friends and loved-ones get caught up in the violence and betrayal that seem to follow him.
Mrs Shorney said: “I do very dark and graphic books. I may be a woman, but I like to read thrillers and I like supernatural too – I’m no Catherine Cookson.”
She said: “Everything I write is very Irish orientated. I think my father had a lot to do with that – he was not Irish but he loved Ireland.
“I like really dark stuff and I think my inspiration has come from a lot of films I’ve watched and a lot books I’ve read.”
Mrs Shorney works part-time in a local care home, caring for elderly people with dementia, and spends the rest of her time writing.
She added: “I like writing because it’s relaxing – I can become somebody else. I’m a grandmother but when I write, I’m not me anymore. I can just switch off.
“When I write I become a 30-year-old man.”
