Francis Construction is a family run regional construction company which is based on Colthrop Lane.

It won in the Net Zero category for its Queen Elizabeth Class Logistics Centre at Portsmouth Naval Base.

The Constructing Excellence SECBE Awards recognise and celebrate companies, collaborations and projects from across the London and South East region.

There are 15 category areas available for entries and there are two rounds of judging by both construction industry experts and leaders in various relevant areas.

Francis Construction managing director Will Barrett said: “Sustainability is at the heart of what we do and we have a fantastic opportunity to shape the built environment of the future enabling a carbon neutral society.

“We are delighted that the team has won this award and demonstrated that net zero projects can be completed under budget, within programme and be functional assets to all our clients.”

The QEC Forward Logistics Centre in Portsmouth provides logistical support for the Royal Navy vessels.

It was opened in June last year and is the final project delivered within the 19-year QEC Infrastructure programme and the first Royal Navy infrastructure construction to be net zero in operation.
