Thatcham bin fire suspected arson

Firefighters slam waste of time

A Thatcham bin fire yesterday (Fri) evening has been put down to a suspected arson.

One pump from Newbury Fire Station was called at 9pm to Dunstan Green, off Harts Hill, where a bin was ablaze in a park.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze using two buckets of water.

Firefighters have criticised the thoughtlessness of the suspected arsonist for wasting their valuable time and the diversion away from potentially more serious fires.

Firefighters left the scene after 20 minutws.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact police on the non emergency telephone number, 101.
