Thatcham Cancer Support Group turns four years old

A cancer support charity in Thatcham has celebrated its fourth anniversary.

The Thatcham Cancer Support Charity, which holds weekly meetings for those affected by cancer, turned four years old on January 19.

The organisation was founded in 2019 by Aileen Blackley and Jane Hicks – both cancer survivors.

It aims to support anyone affected by cancer either as a patient, family member or friend.

It provides somewhere to speak with people who have or are experiencing similar issues.

The group has links to qualified cancer organisations including Macmillan, Sue Ryder and Newbury Cancer Care.

Mayor of Thatcham Jeff Brooks was in attendance at the celebration and cut the cake, which was made by a member.

The charity said Mr Brooks’ visit made the event even more special.

A small memory tree was also on display, celebrating those who have lost their lives to cancer. The charity said their memory will live on.
